Van der Garde withdraws legal action against Sauber

Giedo van der Garde has announced that he has withdrawn legal action against the Sauber Formula 1 team in Australia. This decision means that Sauber will race Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr as they had originally planned before the week began. In a statement made on van der Garde's Facebook page he says the two sides still need to come to terms on a final solution but he is "confident such solution will be found" as talks will continue next week.

This is also a relief for the Sauber team as this means it can no longer have its cars seized and they can travel to the next race in Malaysia. It is still unknown what the final result of this will be.

Hopefully the two sides can come to a fair agreement and this case can go away. This has really turned into a mess and makes the team and the sport look bad. My guess is the two sides will agree to some type of financial agreement or van der Garde will be allowed to drive for the team at times during the season. However I think that it is best that this is now being solved outside of the courtroom.
